Dreams

My dreams lately have seemed so real that I've been waking up pretty confused as to what is the immediate reality around me. Ever since my flight home to Ottawa for this Christmas I keep having dreams about flying and a couple nights ago I had a very realistic dream where I was on and endless journey of connections and delays. It was horrible! I kept thinking "I'm sure I already did this! I already flew back to England...or was I dreaming that?" Then I ended up slapping my cheek in my dream trying to wake myself up while the passenger beside me was looking at me funny. I wasn't waking up at first so I really started thinking that I hadn't actually been back to England yet...it was so weird when I woke up.

Last night's dream seemed even more real though and I remember thinking in the dream "wow! Now I'll really have something to blog about!" Then I woke up and realised it wasn't real at all but it sure felt like it. Those who know me well have 3 guesses as to what I had a dream about. The picture kind of gives it away.

I had a dream about tornadoes. I don't know why but I usually have recurring dreams about tornadoes! I'm always fascinated by them and each dream is different except for the fact that there's usually one or more tornadoes in it. This time I was in England with my family and the sky was turning a deep dark yellowish purple. We were all inside on the top floor of this house waiting out the storm. Then the tornadoes formed. I wasn't scared at all! I went right to the window and was watching them touch the ground and sweep through the town. I remember saying that maybe we should head to the basement but none of us did and the fact that we were all together was really comforting. I remember thinking that I wish I had my camera so I could take pictures. No matter how many funnels formed none of them touched our house. It was the most realistic dream about them yet as I can still see them forming before my eyes.

I have to admit that as dangerous as it would be, I really would love to be able to watch a tornado in real life. They really fascinate me. Kind of in the same way when you're a little kid you know touching a hot stove would burn you but it's still fascinating all the same. Maybe one day I will get the chance!

Postcard From England

(This picture was taken in Durham outside the Durham Cathedral. Aside from the Telephone booth there is also an English post box behind me. )

I'm afraid that nothing major has really happened lately. I did have a pretty busy weekend with Tim and Anna's party on Saturday night. There were about 40 people in the house, mainly older couples who I didn't really know. I was able to have a couple good conversations with people and it was fun to get dressed up!

Sunday I went to Durham with Anna to attend the Epiphany service at Durahm Cathedral. It's the oldest Cathedral in England and it's pretty big! The service was beautiful and very traditional with the processions and incense. The choir was amazing and I loved listening to them!

Yesterday I finished work a bit early and went into Newcastle with Judy to see King Kong. I really enjoyed it. I'd heard from several people that it was a bit longer than it needed to be, but I thought it was really good and didn't find it too slow. We went to Pizza Hut afterwards (mmmmmmm) and sat and talked. It was nice to just get out and be social and talk with someone about life. I really do miss the opportunities to do that like I was able to in Canada.

We have 4 assemblies this week at a middle school nearby and I've learned a magic trick to perform. I was a bit nervous the first time I tried and I was scared I was going to mess it up but it went ok!

I have a pretty regular week ahead from here so I'm not anticipating too much excitement. I will definitly write about any interesting happenings if they happen!

So You Thought You Had a Big Vocabulary Did You?

This and That

I bought a pilates dvd from the internet and it arrived yesterday so I figured I'd give it a try. My mom's gotten into pilates and so I've been doing it whenever I've been home and really enjoy it. The dvd that I bought is designed for people who dont have a lot of time for exercise and it's divided into 5 seperate 10 minute workouts for your abs, arms and shoulders, butt and thighs, flexebility and there is a fat burn workout. You can do them seperately, in different combinations or as one total 50 minute workout. Well being the person that I am I decided to do the whole thing to see what it was like and I had time to kill. Holy moley did I sweat and now, today I'm lovely and sore. You'd think that with loads of running I could handle one workout, eesh!

Well, I thought that I would sum up some of the things I've been up to since my return to England.

First of all I would like to say that condensed milk is all fine and dandy in it's place, baked into desserts where you can't taste it, but, individually it's disgusting. We had a group of youth come into the office after school one day. One of the lads had a brainwave and came up with the idea that the most lush thing ever would be to dip chocolate into condensed milk and eat it. I can tell you the idea didn't exactly get my mouth watering but I'm not one to protest against eating weird combinations of food. They were all happily sitting on our floor dipping the chocolate into the tin of milk and eating it. Eventually it became a bit sickly and so they decided they'd had enough but there was still half a can of condensed milk sitting on our office floor. Being the Mosher that I am I playfully suggested that one of them should drink it. This was a huge hit only they decided that it should be me who drinks it! Ugh, shudder, cringe, blech! They finally agreed to let me off the hook if I shared the task with someone else...I didn't see how that was letting me off the hook but well, I'm not one to back down from a challenge. So then and there I drank down an quarter of a can of condensed milk. It was disgusting, I'd rather have eaten another grasshopper!

A couple weeks ago we had so many youths visit us one day at our lunch time drop in at the high school that there was no room to sit so I slid down the wall as if I was sitting on a chair and just stayed there for a bit. One of the lads noticed and asked how long I could stay "sitting" like that. I said I didn't know and they all decided to try and time me to see and I lasted 3 minutes before I collapsed on the floor. Since that afternoon Sophie decided that it would be a good exercise to do every evening to prepare herself for skiing in February and so we decided to try and add 10 seconds every night and see how long we could work ourselves up to and we decided that it would be a good idea to brush our teeth while doing it do distract ourselves from the exercise. It was so much fun and I managed to get an arm full of toothpaste foam as we ended up giggling quite a bit. (see photo above)

We had our youth service this past Sunday and it was awesome. Really, really awesome. I was saying to Lisa and Mike that I think it's one of the first times that I've really felt poured into myself while doing ministry here. It was so refreshing. The worship was great, the speaker was awesome and the repsonse from the youth was so encouraging. I'm so encouraged!

The other exciting thing for this year is that I'm heading to Capernwray Bible College for a two month bible course in April and May. The School is on the west coast of England in a town called Carnforth which is in Lancashire for those who care to look things up on an Atlas. I'm really anticipating a great time and so excited about meeting tones of young adults! I've been deprived of a thriving social life whilst in England. I think it's going to be a great time to just get away and get into God as well. Yay!

Well I should end here as I have to get on and do some work!
To end here is a quote I found on the internet yesterday:

Imagination is more important than knowledge.- Albert Einstein

A Bit of Hair-Dyeing Fun

And finally, presenting a visual documentation of The Mosher/Belleguelle Christmas of 2005, we have a conglomeration of pictures from various cameras.

Resolutions

Another new year and another time for everyone to make they're resolutions. I think I have only made a new years resolution once and that was last year. I tried to get back in shape and it lasted about 3 months before I gave up and decided it was much better to sleep in the morning than get up and run. Fortunately I've managed to keep the whole fitness routine that I started this past summer going this time. Evenings are a much more sane time for running!

Anyway while I was home this past Christmas ( which I promise I will post pictures of soon!) a discussion about resolutions started at the table and I remember my parents saying that we all make resolutions at some point or another in our Christian walk. I remember thinking it was very true and that perhaps something I should try harder at this year is actually laying my heart and life before God and asking Him is there anything I need to resolve? I think that would be much more beneficial to me than just reviewing my life once a year. Those are some thoughts toward this year so far.

Oh the wise-ness of parents! (or is it wisdom!)

A Belated Happy New Year

Well, I'm back in England! Sorry for the delay. I managed to make it back with Air France without too much hassle and only a few delayed flights, not enough to cause me to have to stay overnight in a hotel again. (For the Veggie Tale fans I realised while in my hotel room in Boston, that I can now say I've been to Boston in the Fall!)

Christmas was sooooo good and I had an amazing time with my family and it was great to see Steve and Heather again. I will be able to post pictures soon as I was able to buy a digital camera with some Christmas money I was given. Now I can also show more pictures of England and perhaps of what I actually do while I'm over here.

My first week back to work was alright, busy enough to keep me slightly fatigued by the end of each day on top of my jet lag. A friend was telling me that jet-lag was all psychological. I disagree , though, I do think one has a choice as to how much effort they put into getting on a new schedule.

Anyhow, I need to be getting to bed as tomorrow is a pretty busy day. Happy New Year to everyone and I'll make sure I get those pictures posted soon!
